Santorini is one of the most photographed wedding destinations in the world, and also one of the least forgiving of poor planning — the island is small, venues are limited, and everything from parking to power supply needs to be worked out well in advance. Here's our checklist for getting it right.

Book Your Venue a Year Out, Minimum

Santorini has a genuinely limited number of caldera-facing wedding venues, and the best ones are booked twelve to eighteen months ahead for the May-to-October window. If your family has a specific venue in mind from a photograph, we recommend confirming availability before finalising your wedding date around it.

Plan for a Smaller Guest List

Most caldera venues are built for intimate weddings — often 50 to 100 guests — given the island's narrow roads and limited large-format venues. If your family's guest list runs larger, we typically recommend a hybrid approach: an intimate Santorini ceremony followed by a larger celebration back home.

Wind Is a Real Planning Factor

The Meltemi winds pick up through the summer afternoons, which affects everything from hairstyling to open-air décor. We schedule outdoor ceremonies for late afternoon into golden hour, both for the wind and for the light.
